CURATE YOUR COLORS
A color palette shouldn’t limit what you can do in a space but rather, free you. By curating a color scheme for your home, you create more flow from room to room which allows you to move pieces throughout your space as you and your family grow and adapt. Diversify your palette by choosing a range of colors that are light and deep, clean and moody, neutral and somewhat saturated. Fancy a particular hue? consider adding a tint and a shade of the same color to broaden the visual canvas and create a tone-on-tone effect. If color intimidates, start with smaller pieces like pillows, lamp shades, or accent ottomans, and save neutrals for bigger staples like sofas.
FEATURE YOUR FINDS
Your home should be as unique as you! Elevate pieces that have significant meaning by incorporating them into your decor. Whether it’s heirloom photographs, a favorite book, or a collection of souvenirs from travels, display them with pride. Incorporate them into your home seamlessly by using new pieces as well. Gatehouse has a curated collection of beautiful home styling accessories with a collected and loved look that can work harmoniously with your current home. To avoid a cluttered feel, use baskets to collect less sightly items like tv remotes and phone chargers or to collect spare blankets.
CULTIVATE CRAFTSMANSHIP
We have a saying at Gatehouse no.1 “It’s all in the details”. We truly believe it’s the culmination of all the tiniest details that create the big impact in a space. Whether it’s a custom flange on your pillows, carved wood detail in your dresser, or hand crafted hardware, the details matter. Look for pieces that appear heirloom. Embrace a collected eclectic look by mixing old with new. We are seeing more and more trends in furniture and design that feature fine craftsmanship such as canning, bead-board, and moulding etc. and we don’t see this trend going anywhere anytime soon.
